Penn State Law

Intellectual Property Law Clinic

The Penn State Law Intellectual Property Clinic (IP Clinic) trains outstanding intellectual property lawyers by having law students counsel Pennsylvania innovators, entrepreneurs, small businesses, and early-stage start-ups in Intellectual Property strategy.

Under the direction and guidance of the Clinic Director, the IP Clinic’s law students advise clients in various matters, including:

  • general intellectual property counseling
  • performing patentability and trademark clearance searches
  • drafting patent and trademark applications, and interacting with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

These services are provided pro bono (free) to those clients who would not otherwise have access to high quality intellectual property legal services.  The IP Clinic does not provide services relating to litigation.

For us to best serve you, please first complete our Client Application below, then, the IP Law Clinic will be in touch.  We aim to respond to all Client Applications as soon as possible, usually within 3 business days.  Please note that response time may be much slower during PSU breaks and finals periods. The clinic will be closed during winter break in-line with Penn State’s academic calendar.

Meetings are by appointment only.
